With warmer weather just around the corner,
we’ve been thinking about our favorite summer activities. The best part?
Halstad has plenty of great activities and recreational opportunities located
right in our community! From world-class fishing to quiet parks and everything
in between, Halstad has a little something for everyone!

All School Reunion

The 2020 Pirate-Panther All School Reunion
will take place on July 24th-26th. The three-day event includes two dances, as
well as a scavenger hunt, 9-hole golf scramble, corn hole tournament, parade,
classic car show, and more! In addition to the traditional class gatherings
from previous years, there will be a student-teacher meet and greet. While the
event is meant to reconnect classmates and faculty, community members are more
than welcome to participate in the All School Reunion’s events. Register for
the All School Reunion before May 31st for just $60 or after June 1st for $75.
Registration will also be available at the High School Library on Friday, July
24th from 4-8 PM and Saturday, July 25th from 9 AM-12 PM, as well as the
Halstad Legion Recreation Center (LRC) on Friday, July 24th from 8-10 PM.

Disc Golf

Enjoy a game (or two) of disc golf at
Halstad’s very own, 9-hole disc golf course! The Halstad Economic Development
Authority purchased the equipment for the course with the help of the Halstad
Telephone Company’s Community Cooperation Grant. Located near the Glen
Brookshire Boat Landing, the disc golf course is backdropped by scenic views of
the Red River of the North.

Boat Landing/Catfishing

Dreaming of spending lazy summer days out on
the water? The Halstad boat landing can help you do just that! Providing public
access to the Red River, the recently renovated boat landing is one of the most
updated access points in our area. Head out on the river in search of local
catfishing hot spots, where you may get lucky enough to catch a 25-pound
catfish, or take an evening pontoon ride and enjoy the calm and beauty of the
Red River.

Kayaking

Speaking of spending time on the water,
Halstad residents and visitors can now rent kayaks from the Halstad Municipal
Utilities office. The kayaks, paddles, and life vests were purchased by the
Halstad Economic Development Authority through the Halstad Telephone Company’s
Community Cooperation Grant. Kayak rentals are free for the day or weekend and
can be used on the Red River or Grandin Lake. For more information, or to make
a reservation, contact Halstad Municipal Utilities at (218) 456-2128.

Community Parks

What better way to enjoy a beautiful Minnesota
summer than hanging out at the park with family and friends? Halstad has two
great parks to choose from, both of which include updated playground equipment,
swings, benches, and picnic tables. If you’re looking for a place to host a
family BBQ or other event, the East Side park has a shelter with a kitchen
available for rent. Both parks have updated public restrooms with running
water, as well.

These are just five of many activities to enjoy in Halstad this summer! For more information about the community’s amenities and recreation opportunities, click here.
