The community of Halstad, Minnesota may be small, but it is mighty. From the people who live here to the businesses that serve our community, each has a profound impact. Bolstering the strength of our city is the abundant number of community organizations that help it thrive. These organizations play a role in Halstad’s ability to offer unique opportunities and amenities to those within our community. Whether you’re already active in local service groups or are new to volunteering, Halstad has many organizations to get involved with. With that in mind, we’re highlighting these service groups that help make our community what it is.

Halstad Fire Department

The Halstad Fire Department is composed of 21 volunteers providing the city of Halstad and the surrounding area with emergency and non-emergency services. As a function of city government, the fire department is committed to providing prompt and professional service to our community. The department holds a monthly meeting on the first Tuesday of every month at 7:00 pm with the Halstad Fire Department Relief Association meeting following, as well as monthly training every third Tuesday of the month.

Economic Development Authority

Established by city council, the Halstad Economic Development Authority is invested in assisting the community through four primary goals:

  1. To promote new and established business growth 
  2. To retain and recruit new and unique employment opportunities to accelerate growth within Halstad and the surrounding areas
  3. To ensure a high quality of life for Halstad residents through the power of a strong economic business network
  4. To encourage community involvement and betterment activities

With these goals in mind, the Halstad Economic Development Authority focuses on supporting new and existing businesses in our community, developing amenities and organizing events, and promoting everything the city of Halstad has to offer. Getting involved with our local EDA provides the opportunity to contribute to the growth of our community.

Halstad Lions Club

Founded in 1792, the Halstad Lions Club serves the communities of Halstad, Hendrum, Perley, and Shelly, Minnesota. The organization focuses on making these communities better through needed projects, fundraising events, and blood drives. As part of a larger network, the Halstad Lions Club also supports five global causes: vision, childhood cancer, diabetes, environment, and hunger. Members meet every third Monday of the month at 6:30 PM.

Halstad Business League

The Halstad Business League believes a strong economy means a better community for its residents. The newly formed organization represents the interests of local businesses and residents to improve the community and the way business is conducted in Halstad. Composed of a volunteer board of directors, the organization works alongside the Halstad City Council and the Economic Development Authority in an effort to “serve as the principal advocate for business in partnership with the community.” The Halstad Business League is actively seeking members and donations to support their efforts.

Landmark, located in Halstad, Minnesota was formerly the Norman County West High School.  The mission of Landmark is to promote community and advance the self-sufficiency of residents of all ages in a state-of-the-art Community Education, Fitness and Recreation Center.
