The City of Halstad was recently awarded a grant of $894,849.30 from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency for the Landmark Community Safe Room project. Eligible safe room project costs are directly related to and necessary for the hazard mitigation purpose of providing immediate life-safety protection by means of the structure and the building envelope for the limited population required to remain in the impact area during an extreme wind event.
Hazard Mitigation Grant Program funds have been obligated to fund the federal share of the Community Safe Room project in the amount of $671,136.98. This leaves a local share for the project in the amount of $223,712.32.
During the Community Safe Room Project renovations, the City of Halstad would like to make additional renovations to the roofs, flooring, lighting and HVAC.
The City of Halstad is seeking donations through personal and business donations, participation in Landmark programming, and fundraising events. For more information or to make a donation, go to https://halstad.com/landmark/ or contact us at info@halstad.com, or call 218.456.2128.
